Your first skydive is a guided tandem experience designed to be simple, safe, and unforgettable.
You start with a short ground briefing where your instructor explains body position, safety procedures, and what to expect during the jump. After that, you’ll gear up in a harness and board the aircraft.
As the plane climbs to altitude (typically around 10,000–14,000 feet), your instructor will prepare you for exit. When it’s time to jump, you’ll exit the aircraft together and enter freefall.
Freefall lasts about 30–60 seconds. During this time, you’ll experience the sensation of flying rather than falling. After that, your instructor deploys the parachute.
Under canopy, the pace slows down. You’ll glide smoothly for several minutes, take in the views, and prepare for landing. The instructor handles the landing, making the experience accessible even for beginners.
Skydiving feels intense at first, but most first-time jumpers say it’s far less scary than they expected.
The anticipation before the jump is usually the most nerve-wracking part. Once you exit the plane, that fear quickly turns into excitement and focus. Your brain shifts from “this is scary” to “this is happening,” and the experience becomes surprisingly calm and controlled.
Because you’re attached to a trained instructor in a tandem skydive, you’re not responsible for technical decisions. That removes a lot of pressure and allows you to enjoy the moment.
Many people describe the feeling as freeing, exhilarating, and even peaceful once the parachute opens. For most jumpers, the fear is temporary—but the sense of accomplishment lasts long after the landing.
This video shows a complete first-time skydiving experience from start to finish.
At the beginning, you’ll see the pre-jump preparation, including gearing up and getting ready to board the aircraft. Next, the footage transitions to the plane ride, where altitude builds and anticipation increases.
The video then captures the moment of exit, where the tandem pair leaves the aircraft and enters freefall. You’ll see the body position, speed, and perspective during the descent.
After freefall, the parachute deploys, and the pace shifts. The video shows the canopy flight, including controlled turns and a smooth glide.
Finally, you’ll see the landing and immediate reactions afterward, giving you a realistic view of what the full experience looks and feels like.
